Carlton Cup Basketball Tournament:

Old Cambrians win easily

Old Cambrians Basektball Club defeated Jayawardenapura University Basketball Club by 86 points to 36 in a Carlton Cup Open Basketball Tournament ‘B’ Division match played at Police Courts.

Old Cambrians BC was in the lead by 43 points to 9 at half time.

Sudesh Nonis (21 points), Shehan Dhanushka (20 points) and Viraj Gayanaga (18 points) made valuable contributions for the winning Old Cambrians Basketball club.

Kasun Perera was the highest scorer for Jayawardenapura University BC.

Joes Basektball Club beat Old Anandians BC by 66 points to 44 in another ‘B’ Division game played at the same venue.

Joes BC was in the lead by 36 points to 18 at half time.

Andre Fernando was the top scorer for the winning team with 13 points, Yohan Keyser got 7 points.

L.T. Rajapaksa scored 13 points and D.W. Samarasekera scored 11 points for Old Anandians.

The inaugural Carlton Cup Open Basketball tournament organised by Carlton Sports Club and ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ Organization is being sponsored by Sri Lanka Telecom and Solex Engineering Company.
