Four cyber crime suspects further remanded

Colombo Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge Nisantha Hapuarachci yesterday remanded till October 6 four suspects who are alleged to have been involved in putting false information on the Internet about the Hikkaduwa Beach Carnival. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) which is conducting investigations into the alleged offence produced the four suspects before Court.

The CID said that they had not completed the investigations into the complaint made by Tourism Ministry Director P.W. Fernando. According to the complaint several persons are trying to bring disrepute to the tourism industry in Sri Lanka.

Judge Hapuarachci directed the CID to submit a comprehensive report to Court on the next date.

Attorneys Nalin Indatissa, Aruna Mallawarachchi and Chaminda Gunasekera appeared for the suspects.
