Youth Ministry starts driver training program

The Youth Affairs Ministry has started a program to train drivers with the intention of reducing traffic accidents in the country. They hope to train more than 500 drivers before the end of this year.

We have started a three month Driver Training Program with the participation of the National Youth Services Council with the intention of reducing the traffic accidents in the country and producing well trained professional drivers, said Youth Affairs Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi at the Driving Licence Awarding Ceremony held at Palmadulla. A batch of 175 youths who completed their training received their driving licences.

She also said "we have planned to give motor mechanical training, a good English knowledge plus computer knowledge and other training courses for youth within three months. We have started this program to provide job opportunities for the youth in Europe and Middle East countries."
