Over 3,000 year old elite home surfaces in Embilipitiya

A 3,300 year elite home of a hillside settlement has been unearthed at the premises of Ranwadawala Sri Bodhiraja Viharasthanaya, Embilipitiya during archaeological excavations. An ancient grave yard with advanced techniques dating back to 1359 BC was unearthed during excavations in 2007 at the school premises in this village. Excavations are under way on the direction of Professor Raj Somadeva of the Post Graduate Institute of Archaeology.
