'Dinana Dayata Apekama' a program to start a cultural resurgence and improve the national cultural values among the community, was introduced by Cultural Minister Piyasiri Wijenayake at a press conference in Sethsiripaya held yesterday.

"This is a national program which is mainly focused on improving the social values, social responsibilities among the community and to create an awareness of the national heritage of the country.

"We have submitted this program to President Mahinda Rajapaksa and are awaiting his approval," said Mister Wijenayake.

Setting up a National Heritage Commission is one of the main objectives of this program and also to strengthen the National Arts Council which is essential for the development of the cultural activities in the country.
