Lanka skipper Sangakkara hails bowlers

Sri Lanka skipper Kumar Sangakkara hailed his bowlers Thursday ahead of the ICC 2009 Champions Trophy in South Africa. Sri Lanka face the hosts at Centurion Park on September 22 in the opening match of the 50-over mini-World Cup which was last staged three years ago and won by Australia.

OWSC’s cricket sixes on October 16, 17 and 18

Over 36 teams vie for honours :

The Old Wesleyites Sports Club’s (OWSC) 17th annual schools Six-a-Side cricket tournament organized and conducted by the OWSC will be held on the 16, 17 and 18 October 2009 at the Wesley College grounds. It is being actively sponsored by Ceylon Biscuits Ltd. (CBL) for the second consecutive year and played for the “Munchee Glucofit Trophy”.

Richmond in command

Richmond College, Galle, were in a commanding position at the end of the first day’s play in their schools under-19 division one cricket tournament match against Kingswood College which commenced at the University grounds, Peradeniya yesterday. The match will be continued today at 9.30 a.m.
