Cuba: US policy towards Cuba hampers scientific collaboration
to Cuba for the 20th International Congress of the Cuban Society of
Orthopedics and Traumatology, the Director of the Frank Pais
internacional Orthopedics and Scientific Complex in Havana Dr. Rodrigo
Alvarez Cambras assured.
According to the information received, US delegates invited to
participate in this Congress, scheduled for Sept. 21-26 in the eastern
province of Granma, do not count yet with permission from the State
Department to travel to Cuba, Alvarez Cambras, President of the
organizing committee told Cuban News Agency.
He added that prohibition shows the economic, financial and
commercial blockade imposed by US to Cuba is still in force, and
regretted the absence of US colleagues interested in attending the
scientific event to be held in Bayamo, Granma, one of Cuba's most
eastern province Alvarez Cambras said some 400 delegates from several
countries will attend the meeting; some 150 of them are from Mexico,
Spain, Canada, Japan, Argentina, Russia, France, Guatemala, Germany,
Nicaragua, Pakistan, Yemen and Honduras.
He added that the event will include a commercial exhibition with the
participation of almost 20 nations, with six Cuban companies and 12 from
abroad in areas of Sierra Maestra Hotel, main premise of the event.
During the forum, Cuba will also present its latest advances in the
