Air Force rout Jupiters - 6/0

Air Force soccerites opened their campaign of the Dialog Champions
League with a smashing 6-0 victory over Jupiters Sports Club from
Negombo. The Airmen led 2-0 at half time.
The match which was played at the City Football League ground became
a one sided affair with Air Force having full control to the game and
also had almost 60 percent of possession.
Jupiters SC made a few good moves towards the goal area of the
opponents but the strikers could not give the finishing touches of find
the net.
Airmen opened scoring in only the 22nd minute of play through T.
Damith Dissanayke and just at the final moment of the first session W.A.
Sampath put his side further up 2-0. Airmen after the turn around found
things a bit harder as Jupiters SC players continued well for almost
another 22 minutes.
At this stage Pradeep Kumara Fernando made inroads and extended their
lead to 3-0.
Thereafter Jupiters’ players could not match their opponent as they
faulted with their passes giving the Airmen the opportunity to make the
maximum.
This resulted in Air Force scoring three more goals to their tally.
These goals came through Rumesh Rangana Silva (80th minute), N.A.
Gayan Kelum Perera (88th minute) and the last during injury time (92
minute) through Shammugarajah Sanjeer and the final score read 6-0.
B.M.S. Basnayake who controlled the game pulled out the yellow card
on two Air Force players Sampath Perera and Pradeep Kumar Fernando.
Saunders win
Saunders Sports Club who are in high morale after defeating Ratnam SC
a few weeks ago showed that they were making a strong bid to have a go
at the Dialog Champions League Trophy when they overcame the Old Bens SC
from Kotahena one goal to nil. The match was played at the Football
Federation ground, Kelaniya. At half time the winners led 1-0.
The match was refereed by M.H.M. Rumy.
Police outplay Blue Star SC
At Police Park the Police soccerties over ran the boys from Kalutara
the Blue Star SC three goals to nil. The Policemen were on level terms
at the half way mark (1-1).
Policemen combined well in the next session of play to add two more
goals while defending their territory.
