Army’s Inter-Regiment athletic meet

The Sri Lanka Army’s 46th Inter-Regiment Athletic Championship is scheduled to commence tomorrow at the Sugathadasa Stadium in Colombo at 8.00 a.m.

This year’s meet for the first time will run for three days. Army which started its athletic championship way back in the year 1950 as the Inter-unit Championship changed its name as Inter-Regiment Championship with the expansion of the cadres into the Army in the recent past.

The Army Athletes have played a major role in Sri Lanka’s athletic team. At present Army has the largest number of athletes in the national pool.

The Inter-Regiment Athletic Championship is the stepping stone for soldiers to come out with their best.
