President felicitates Brazil

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has in a message to the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the 187th anniversary of the Independence of Brazil states:

“On the happy occasion of the 187th anniversary of the Independence of the Federative Republic of Brazil, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and on my own behalf, I have great pleasure in extending our warm congratulations and sincere greetings to Your Excellency, and through you to the Government and the friendly people of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

Relations between our two countries are characterised by abiding friendship, mutual trust and goodwill.

It is my fervent desire and that of my Government to work closely with Your Excellency, and the Government of the Federative Republic of Brazil to further consolidate our existing relations into a tangible partnership for the mutual benefit of the peoples of our two countries.

“Please accept, Excellency, my best wishes for the continued progress and prosperity of Federative Republic of Brazil and also for your good health and happiness.”
