Gayan and Vinoli clinch table tennis titles

Gayan Dilupa Wijeratne of Sri Lanka Navy and Vinoli Silva of Girls High School, Kandy clinched the Intermediate Men's and Women's Singles titles in the Future Spin Table Tennis Championships - 2009 held in Nuwara Eliya recently which was conducted by Future Spin Table Tennis Academy, Nuwara Eliya.

While Dishanka Tennakoon of Dharmaraja College won double titles in the junior category, he defeated Umesh Niluminda of Devananda College, Ambalangoda by 11-02, 11-02 in the under 10 boys singles and he beat Isuru Anjana of Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda by 11-05, 11-07 in the under 12 boys singles.

Final results: Under 8 girls singles: Sandamini Kularathna (Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy) beat Shavini Maleesha Dissanayake (Holy Family Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala) 11-05, 11-08.

Under 8 boys singles: Lasith Weerallagama (St. Anthony's College, Katugastota) overcame Thimira Kodituwakku (St. Anthony's College, Katugastota) 11-06, 11-06.

Under 10 girls singles: Hansani Piumali (Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda) won over Thanushi Rodrigo (Mahamaya Girls College, Kandy) 12-10, 11-05.

Under 10 boys singles: Dishanka Tennakoon (Dharmaraja College, Kandy) routed Umesh Niluminda (Devananda College, Ambalangoda) 11-02, 11-02.

Under 12 girls singles: Odini Hemaransi (Devananda College Ambalangoda) trounced Pushmi Jayatunge (Girls High School, Mt. Lavinia) 11-06, 11-05.

Under 12 boys singles: Dishanka Tennakoon (Dharmaraja College, Kandy) beat Isuru Anjana (Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda) 11-05, 11-07.

Under 15 girls singles: Dishani Jayasinghe (St. JBMV, Kegalle) defeated Odini Hemaransi (Devananda College, Ambalangoda) 11-09, 07-11, 11-07.

Under 15 boys singles: Prasad de Silva (Vidyartha College, Kandy) overcame Umesh Niluminda (Devananda College, Ambalangoda).

Under 18 girls singles: Hiruni Kumarasinghe (Girls High School, Kandy) beat Anushka Nadeeshani (Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kandy) 11-08, 07-11, 11-08.

Under 18 boys singles: Prasad de Silva (Vidyartha College, Kandy) won over Akila Dodankotuwa (Vidyartha College, Kandy) 13-11, 08-11, 11-09.

Under 18 girls singles: Nipuni Nayanamala (St. Joseph's Balika Vidyalaya, Kegalle) overcame Anjali Udeshika de Alwis (Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo) 11-06, 11-07.

Novices men's singles: Chinyhaka Ekanayake (Vidyartha College, Kandy) beat G. L. Dumuth Prasanna (Sri Lanka Navy) 11-07, 03-11, 11-09.

Intermediate women's singles: Vinoli Silva (Girls High School, Kandy) defeated Praveena Silva (Girls High School, Kandy).

Intermediate men's singles:

S. Gayan Dilupa Wijerathna (Sri Lanka Navy) beat Prasad de Silva (Vidyartha College, Kandy) 11-08, 01-11, 11-03.
