India bags Nehru Cup

The hosts India kept the Nehru Cup beating Syria five goals to four in a tie breaker system introduced after the final ended in a one all draw. Indians scored a goal with five minutes left in the extra time, but Syrians equalised with only 30 seconds before the whistle which sent the teams for the tie breaker. The first half ended in a goalless draw.

It was India who had most of the possession but could not make good use of it. On the other hand Syrians played well during this session going on the attack but they too failed to score.

The second session too was evenly contested with the Syrians making many inroads to the opponent territory. Indians in the final stages took many shots at goal. But their strikers could not find the correct target and the game ended in a nil-all draw. The game was then extended for extra time. Sri Lanka too participate in this tourney for the Nehru Cup. They won against Lebanan.

In the latter games went down to India, Syria and Kyrgistan and failed to reach the final.
