Absent Airmen to be discharged

The Air Force will officially discharge airmen who deserted ranks prior to May 31, 2009. Air Force spokesman Wing Commander Janaka Nanayakkara said the Air Force had taken action to discharge in absentia the deserters from service.

"We are in the clearing process of absentees. Once we complete the formalities, we will notify them to come and collect their certificates," he added. He said that they will be officially discharged and cleared from their charges.

Wing Commander Nanayakkara said those who had changed their postal addresses should notify the Air Force Headquarters of the change to obtain their discharge in absentia.
