Kollupitiya - Sri Jayawardhanapura highway nearing completion

Action has been taken to complete the first six lane highway in Sri Lanka, from Kollupitiya to Sri Jayawardhanapura before the end of this year.

General Manager of Road Development Authority R.W.R. Premasiri said the project will cost Rs. 600 million.

This new sophisticated Kollupitiya Jayawardhanapura A1 highway is nearing completion from Borella Devi Balika Vidyalaya proximity to Sri Jayawardhanapura Parliamentary Complex circular road.

The construction commenced on March 23 and was partially completed on account of the SAARC Leaders Conference.

Once the rest of this highway is completed it will ease the school and passengers transport congestion daily to Nugegoda and Dehiwela via Borella, Rajagiriya, Borella, Kottawa, Pelawatta Jayawadhnagama, Talwathugoda area, from Kollupitiya to Pahathgama, Hanwella via Battaramulla, Malabe, Kaduwela, to the upcountry via Avissawella and to Rajagiriya, Ambagaha junction, Gothatuwa, Angoda and Kaduwela.

The General Manager of the Road Development Authority said this road is very congested and this daily traffic congestion will ease once the six lane highway is completed.
