Senior monks to advise Justice Ministry
Justice and Law Reforms Minister Milinda Moragoda has appointed a
group of eminent senior Buddhist Monks of all Nikayas as honorary
advisors to the Ministry.
The inaugural meeting of the Advisory Committee will be held in Kandy
today at 1.00 p.m. at Central Province Governor's residence.
This advisory committee consists of thirty monks including Ven.
Niyangoda Vijitha Anunayaka Thera Ven. Kotugoda Dhammawasa Anunayaka
Thera, Prof. Bellanwila Wimalarathana Thera, Ven. Godagama Mangala Thera,
Ven. Dr. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thera, Ven. Dr. Ittapane
Dhammalankara Thera, Ven. Waleboda Gunasiri Thera and Ven. Akuratiye
Nanda Thera.
Minister Moragoda is planning to solicit advice of this committee to
reform the administration of justice and make it a more people-oriented
system, infusing with Buddhist vision.
Minister Moragoda, Central Province Governor Tikiri Kobbekaduwa,
Ministry Secretary Suhada Gamlath and officers of all other institutes
under the Ministry will participate at the meeting.
The new policy will ensure a unified and inclusive approach to
develop and maintain law and order in the country after the eradication
terrorism and the Justice and Law Reforms Minister is committed to
implement the rules and regulations for the benefit of the communities. |
