Global Action donates medical equipment
Global Action, Sri Lanka donated a consignment of medical equipment
to the Sri Lanka Navy on last Thursday. Navy Commander Vice Admiral
Thisara Samarasinghe received the donated medical items from the
representative of Global Action, Sri Lanka at a function held in the
Auditorium of SLNS Parakrama in Colombo.
Many high ranking Naval Officers and representatives of Global
Action, Sri Lanka were also present. The consignment of donated items
sent by the Salvation Army Humanitarian Aid, Sweden, one of Global
Action's partner organisations, includes a mobile X-ray machine,
electrically-operated hospital beds, an operation table, medical tents,
wheel chairs and a generator.
The medical equipment is for the use in various Naval establishments
set up by the Sri Lanka Navy in the North and East to provide medical
care to IDPs and service personnel Global Action, Sri Lanka also donated
a consignment of medical equipment to the Sri Lanka Navy last
year.National Director, Global Action, Sri Lanka, Lal N Withanage, also
donated four Fiberglass boats and three Suzuki 15 HP outboard motors
valued around Rs. one million to the Navy recently.
This is the fifth occasion that Global Action has made donations to
the Sri Lanka Navy for humanitarian activities.Meanwhile, Samurdhi Bank
of Malabe also donated medical equipment to the Navy on this occasion. |
