Inter-school girls tennis :

Karandeniya Central in upset win

Karandeniya Central College which comparatively had taken to tennis recently has made quite an impression in the all island inter-schools girls tennis tournament which is now in progress at the SLTA courts.

Karandeniya in the under 15 girls category did extremely well to get the better of some of the leading colleges and, yesterday in the semi-finals created an upset by beating the fancied Musaeus College by three matches to two (3/2).

Karandeniya Central will now meet Bishop's College, in the under 15 final for girls. The girls from Karandeniya, appear to have progressed under the guidance of a Japanese coach, the services of which have been obtained through JAIC organisation - not forgetting as well that a court was laid for the college by the SLTA through a tsunami project.
