India has achieved immense progress - Minister Chandrasekaran
Community Development and Social Inequity Eradication Minister and
Leader of the Up Country People's Front P. Chandrasekaran, MP in a
message to mark the 62nd Independence Day of India states: "I am highly
pleased to convey my felicitations and sincere wishes to the people of
India and the Government of India as today it celebrates her
Independence Day.
Indeed, this is a momentous occasion for India as it has achieved
immense progress in various fields such as education, economics,
science, information technology and so on as it got its independence
nearly six decades ago.
Several super powers across the globe are surprised to see the rapid
development that India has seen during a short period of time."
"Today many Western countries face a severe set back as they are
affected due to the economic recession that has reared its ugly head in
several parts of the world but India takes a rapid lead in the growth of
its economy thus making itself as an important super power in the Asian
Region. Actually, it has achieved tremendous progress making use of the
freedom that it gained in 1947.
Several Indian leaders who ruled India after her independence were
internationally recognized as world leaders for the vision that they
have seen for the progress of the world. I would like to point out that
Indians should be appreciated on this eventful day, Minister
Chandrasekaran said.
"As far as the ethnic problem is concerned, since late, all minority
communities of Sri Lanka fervently hope that India should play a
decisive role in finding a viable solution to it. The future political
solutions should fulfill the aspirations of 1.5 million people of the
upcountry Tamils.
Its apt to mention that the Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan
Singh is also of the same opinion regarding this matter. May I once
again convey our sincere wishes and warm felicitations to the Government
of India and her people on this joyous occasion", the message adds.
