Treasure hunters in Ritigala nabbed

Police arrested 10 persons who were allegedly trying to unearth a treasure in the Ritigala jungles following a tip-off from residents.

The treasure hunters' venue was raided by Habarana Police on August 10 at 2.30 p.m. Out of 10 suspects, four are from Colombo, one from Matara and five from Megodawewa Colony in the area, police said. A car allegedly used by treasure hunters, crow bars, mammoties, iron rods and equipment used to hold rituals were also taken into custody. Kekirawa Magistrate remanded the suspects till August 20.
