Lanka, Vietnam trade to increase to $ 100m
Sri Lanka and Vietnam will increase bilateral
trade to USD 100 million this year. “Hopefully, we will be able to
increase trade between Vietnam and Sri Lanka from US $ 60 million to
US $100 million this year,” said Minister, Foreign Affairs Rohitha
Bogollagama at a joint media conference on Monday.

Export earnings hit $ 565 million in June
Earnings from exports reached US dollars 565
million in June 2009, while expenditure on imports amounted to US
dollars 832 million, as a result of which, the trade deficit
recorded US dollars 267 million, a contraction of 50.5 percent,
year-on-year a media release from the Central Bank said.

Ceylinco Life to recruit 1,700 employees
Ceylinco Life has unveiled plans to recruit
1,700 sales consultants and agency supervisors by the end of 2009. A
new recruitment campaign launched by the company in July is
scheduled to run till September 30. Ceylinco Life’s current sales
team numbers around 5,000.
