Job racketeers nabbed

Police nabbed two racketeers who promised to offer lucrative jobs in Italy for youths seeking foreign employment.

Police speskeman SSP Ranjith Gunasekera said two suspects were arrested along with forged documents on Tuesday around 9.30 pm in the Habarakada area in Athurugiriya. The suspects were running a fake agency and promising youths with lucrative jobs in Italy.

The suspects had been collecting Rs.900,000 from each job seeker promising jobs in Italy, he said.

Police also seized many forged documents including 24 fake rubber stamps belonging to different Government departments. Athurugiriya police are investigating.
