Nearly 500 North East athletes to compete
52nd Junior Athletic National C’ships :
The 52nd Junior Athletic championships one of the
major events of the athletic calendar organised by the Sri Lanka
Athletic Association is scheduled to be conducted at the Sugathadasa
Stadium on June 4, 5 and 6 commencing at 8 a.m. each day. This was
disclosed by Athletic Association President General Palitha Fernando
at a press briefing held at AASL auditorium yesterday.

Women Sailors win hockey 7s title on debut
Sri Lanka Navy women’s ‘A’ team put up a
stupendous performance to defeat the defending champions Seetha Devi
Sports Club, Kandy 2-1 to become champions at Bank of Ceylon Super
Sevens women’s hockey tournament organised by Seetha Devi Balika
Vidyalaya which was worked off at the Asgiriya stadium in Kandy over
the weekend. At half time there was no scoring.
