Robredo into last eight

Spain's Tommy Robredo, the 16th seed, reached the French Open quarter-finals on Monday with a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7/4), 6-2 win over German 29th seed Philipp Kohlschreiber.

He will now play either Argentine fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, the French ninth seed, for a place in the semi-finals.

Robredo will be playing in his fourth quarter-final here, having also reached the last eight in 2003, 2005 and 2007.

The 27-year-old, who is the last Spaniard left in the draw, has the most claycourt wins this season with a 25-6 record.
