Eleven die in Pakistan building collapse

PAKISTAN: A police official says eight more bodies have been recovered from the rubble of a collapsed shopping plaza just outside Pakistan’s capital, raising the death toll to 11 people.

Zaheer Shah said Sunday up to six more people are still feared trapped in the wreckage of the four-story building that collapsed Saturday in the city of Rawalpindi. The local official said that 54 people were injured in the accident.

The plaza, which housed more than 400 shops, collapsed after catching fire hours earlier. Many of those trapped under the rubble were rescue workers trying to put out the fire.
