Fish breeders on training course to India

Twenty one fish breeders selected from seven districts left for "Bubar
Theswar" Institute of Orissa State, India for a ten day training course
on fresh water fish breeding industry.

According to the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources sources,
the ten day training programme will include training in breeding of
fresh water fishes, pond management, production of fish fingerlings,
fish harvesting and marketing and fish diseases.
Selected fresh water breeders were from Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa,
Ampara, Kurunegala, Badulla, Trincomalee and Gampaha districts. The
training programme was organized by the Quality Improvement project that
comes under the Ministry.
Ministry officials told the Daily News that a number of other
projects have also been launched by the Ministry to develop islandwide
fresh water fish breeding industries with the assistance of foreign
funds.
"Stakeholders of the Fresh Water Fishing industry could get necessary
information from the Ministry to identify their problems and solutions,"
official added. |
