Five cut foliage villages set up

The Minister of Rural Industries and Self Employment Promotion S. B.
Navinna has taken steps to set up production villages islandwide.
The Minister has set up five cut foliage cultivation villages in
Wariyapola, Imiyangoda, Mamunuwa, Walpola, Mahakeliya and Katupotha in
the Wariyapola electorate.
Minister Navinna told the media under this project, the district
would develop fast and the production would bring in foreign exchange to
the Kurunegala district. The massive production village scheme will be
implemented over three years and it targets both the export and local
market.
More programmes will be introduced to produce high demand products

The Minister said by investing about Rs. 8 million the Ministry has
distributed 650,000 palm cane and “giniseeriya” plants to cover 500
people in these five villages. |
