Road by precipice needs protective railing
G. A. Gunasena Ginigathena special correspondent
There is no protective railing for the roadside of the
Ginigathena-Avissawella highway in front of the private commercial
complex at the Ginigathena town in the Ambagamuwa DS division in the
Nuwara Eliya district.
As a result residents in and around the Ginigathena town who turn up
to the town for their consumer and other requirements are compelled to
walk on the roadside with a precipice risking their lives.
If a pedestrian while trudging on the risky roadside falls into the
precipice, the person will meet his untimely death or receive severe
injuries.
Although the Road Development Authority has constructed the
protective railing in other precipitous roadsides along the
Ginigathena-Avissawella main road its negligence to put up such a
railing on the roadside opposite the private commercial complex at the
Ginigathena town has attributed to the situation.
Residents of the Ginigathena town appeal to the Road Development
Authority to take steps to meet the need of a protective railing for the
precipitous roadside of the Ginigathena-Avissawella highway opposite the
private trade complex at the Ginigathena town without further delay. |
