Following a Daily News report spotlighting the dilapidated state of the suspension bridge over the Maskelioya on the Hangarapitiya-Morahenagama road in the Ambagamuwa (Ginigathena) DS division in the Nuwara Eliya district, the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha has reconstructed it.

The Nuwara Eliya District Parliamentarian and the Minister of Youth Empowerment and Socio Economic Development Arumugam Thondaman funded Rs. 295,000 for reconstruction of the rural foot bridge which was in a state of disrepair during the past few years.

According to the Vice Chairman of the Ambagamuwa Pradeshiya Sabha J. T. Ebert Perera with the recommissioning of the bridge residents of both the remote villages of Morahenagama and Hangarapitiya who were compelled to cross over the dilapidated bridge risking their lives during the past few years have been able to travel on it conveniently.
