Nine arrested with illicit liquor, drugs

The Katugastota Police Crime Unit conducted a raid at Idamegama, Werallagama and nabbed a person with 90 packets of ganja weighing 107,970 milli grams in his possession recently.

In another raid conducted by Kandy District Anti Corruption Unit at Ibbankatuwa, Galewala, three suspects were arrested with 388,000 milli litres of goda, 7,500 milli litres of kasippu and distilling implements.

In Jaffna town a police team arrested four suspects allegedly selling and in possession of arrack without a licence and seized 681 bottles of arrack with 1,052 bottles and 50 tins of beer.

At Galmuruwa in Madampe, the Chilaw Police Anti Corruption Unit arrested another suspect and recovered 60 bottles of kasippu, four barrels of goda and distilling implements.
