JVP Parliamentary group leader Vijitha Herath yesterday said that
they regret that several EU countries have not yet paid sufficient
attention to arrest the operations of those organisations who act for
and act on behalf of the LTTE in their countries.
Herath said , it is the duty of these countries to arrest LTTE fronts
such as the Tamil Rehabilitation Organisation (TRO) under UN conventions
on terrorism.
Commending the Government’s successes achieved in its humanitarian
operations in the North and East to wipe out LTTE terrorism, he said
they honour these victories achieved by the Security Forces who have
sacrificed their limbs and lives to establish unprecedented victories to
free the land of terrorism.
”We are keen to uphold these victories as well as the honour of those
soldiers who fought to protect their country, its pride , sovereignty
and unitary status, he added”.
He said , they have urged the Government to look into the matter of
LTTE’s front orgnisations in EU countries through Sri Lankan embassies
in order to getting them proscribed by these countries.
The US and Canada have proscribed LTTE front orgnisations, the TRO
and World Tamil Movement. |
