Paranathala manager for B'desh tour
The SLC Interim Committee yesterday appointed former Isipatana
College, Sri Lanka Police Sports Club and BRC cricketer Jayantha
Paranathala as the manager for the Sri Lanka team's forthcoming tour of
Bangladesh.
The 58 year old veteran represented Sri Lanka in several unofficial
test matches as an opening bowler and left hand middle order batsman
during the 1970's under the captaincy of Anura Tennekoon.
The SLC Interim Committee had earlier nominated Pramodaya
Wickremasinghe for this post but the former SSC and Sri Lanka fast
bowler was forced to pull out due to personal commitments.
Sri Lanka will play two test matches against Bangladesh from December
26 followed by a triangular limited overs series from January 10 with
Zimbabwe as the third team.
Meanwhile SLC Interim Committee Member Guy de Alwis was named Head of
the Sri Lanka Office for the World Cup 2011 which will be hosted jointly
by India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. CD |
