Uva medium BOP fetches all time record price

Bombagalla Uva-Downside Estate in the Uva medium category set up an all time record for an Uva medium Broken Orange Pekoe when it obtained a price of Rs. 1,250 for a kilogramme at a recent tea auction. This line of tea was sold by Eastern Brokers Limited and purchased by Enura Trading Company.

Also featuring high on the top prices list were St. James Estate Hali Ela which sold a line of Uva High Grown BOP for Rs. 1,470 per kilogramme and Uva Highlands Estate which sold a line of BOPF for Rs. 600 per kilogramme.

According to M/s Frobes & Walkers Tea Brokers (Pvt) Limited, the demand for Eastern slopes seasonal tea was so great that 21 lines of Broken Orange Pekoe (BOP) exceeded Rs. 500 per kilo mark and 10 of them exceeding the Rs. 1,000 per kolo mark.
