Fonterra guarantees product safety, quality
Fonterra Brands Lanka assured consumers in Sri Lanka that its Anchor,
Anlene, Ratthi, Shape up and Annum Milk powder products are made from
milk sourced solely from New Zealand and are 100% safe to consume.
The company further stated that all liquid milk and yoghurts marketed
under the Newdale, Ratthi, Anlene and Anchor brands are made with local
milk sourced from farmers in Sri Lanka and tested to meet the highest
International and local standards including ISO 22000 and HACCP.
Fonterra Lanka Managing Director Achyut Reddy said all their products
are subjected to rigorous quality controls in every aspect of production
from sourcing of raw milk through the manufacturing and distribution
process.
Further reassurance comes from the New Zealand Food Safety Authority
(NZFSA) which has categorically stated that they have confidence in the
integrated food safety regulatory and industry controls that are in
place in New Zealand, from where Fonterra Brands Lanka sources its milk
powder.
Reddy emphasised that the milk contamination issue in China involving
22 dairy companies was confined to products manufactured with
China-sourced raw milk and had absolutely no bearing on products
marketed by Fonterra in Sri Lanka.
Reddy said any consumers concerned about the issue could call
Fonterra Brands Lanka for more information.
