Diamond Cricket Ball goes with ATA Carnet
The Presidential Export Award winner for 2006 for the outstanding
export performance in the Gem and Jewellery sector Blue Diamond
Jewellery Worldwide on September 9 exhibited the unique life size
diamond cricket ball at the prestigious "Orhopa" International Gem and
Jewellery Exhibition in Paris.
Deputy Chairperson/Ceylinco Consolidated Dr. Sicille P.C. Kotalawala,
was personally present on this occasion. The cricket ball is studded
with 2704 diamonds with a total weight of 53.8 carats. The weight of
gold in it is 148.45 gms.
Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide is a long standing member of the
International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL).The ICCSL is
extremely happy to have been associated with this event as the cricket
ball was exported with an ATA Carnet issued by the chamber.
The ATA Carnet enables the export of merchandise to 64 countries
around the world both duty and tax free. In fact the ATA Carnet is
popularly known as the passport for goods. The Carnet is an
international customs document and is valid for one year.
Usually they cover commercial samples, professional equipment and
goods presented at trade fairs and exhibitions. The Carnets allow the
export of a wide array of goods other than perishables and consumables.
Armed with a Carnet the exporters can sail through customs without any
hassle.
Some of the benefits to the exporters and importers are, that the
Carnet cuts costs by the elimination of VAT and custom duties and the
Carnet holders are not required to post securities with customs,
simplifying customs border crossings and a red tape by allowing a single
document for all customs formalities.
