Abhidhamma class

An elementary Abhidamma class for beginners will commence from July 5 and will be held every Saturday from 9.30 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at the Dehiwala YMBA hall. It will be conducted by Thripitakachaarya M.W. Nandasena.


Lecture

A lecture and discussion titled “Is nuclear power an alternative for power crisis” will be held at the auditorium of the National Library Services and Documentation Centre on July 4 from 4 p.m. onwards.

International media professional trainer and Editor of the Oman Times Dr. Ahmad Lathif Jafar will deliver a lecture under the theme Institutionalisation of Media at No. 231, Muslim Women Study Centre on July 04 at 4.00 p.m.

The Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum jointly with Meel Parwai Fortnight magazine have organised this lecture.


Badur Mowlood, Majlis

The recital of Badur Mowlood, will start on July 3 after Magrib Prayers and will continue until Isha prayers at the Nawala Jummah Mosque by Al Haj M.T. Hilurdeen (Falahi). The programme will commence on July 6 with Rathibathul Jalaliya by Maulavi Hafiz Aadhil.


Musical show

A musical show titled ‘Sala Nisala’ will be held on July 5 at the BMICH at 6 pm, organised by Dr. Kapila Sooriyaarachchi. The show will comprise the musicians Kolitha Banu Dissanayaka and Amarasiri Peiris.


Call for applications

The Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies has called applications from persons engaged in industrial sector jobs and others having a basic knowledge in electronics interested in producing electronic controller systems for enrolment to its Micro Controller Training Course this year.

Lectures on Alzheimer

The Lanka Alzheimer’s Foundation has organised a public lecture at the Goethe-Institut, 39 Gregory’s Road, Colombo 8, on “Understanding and Living with Dementia” on Thursday, July at 6 p.m. For further information call 2583488 or 0777 763592 as seating is limited.

A second lecture on a different topic “Distancing Dementia - Meeting the Challenge of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias, the Hidden Epidemic” will be held at 12 noon on Friday, July 4 at the Sri Lanka Medical Association. For further information call 2583488 or 0777 763592.


She needs help

Dulcey Perera a mother of one of No 311/2 Heiyanthuduwa, Mabima is suffering from an acute heart ailment. Consultant Cardiologist Dr. Gotabhaya Ranasinghe has recommended a PTCA and stenting to cure her ailment. This operation is estimated to cost Rs. 470,000.

She says she is unable to foot this bill due to her family’s present financial plight. She requests donors and the public to help her cause by sending whatever financial contributions possible to raise this money and expedite the operation.
