Don’t fall prey to JVP-UNP conspiracy - DLF

The Democratic Left Front (DLF) in a press release issued yesterday requested workers planning to launch a one-day strike on July 10 not to fall prey to the JVP-UNP conspiracy to destabilise the Government.

The release signed by DLF Secretary Vasudeva Nanayakkara however said workers had a right to demand the full payment of the Cost of Living allowance.

Trade Unions should note that the Government had agreed to accommodate the salary increase demand in the Budget proposals.

It is heartening to note that the Government had accepted the cost of living allowance entitlement as a matter of policy. But the Rs. 1,000 allowance the Government had agreed to grant was inadequate in the present context.

Still for all everyone should know that more than winning worker demands the UNP and JVP trade unions were keen to inconvenience the Government by launching a strike on July 10.
