TOYP rewards talents

HSBC announced its strategic partnership with the Junior Chambers
International Sri Lanka (JCISL) to organise "The Outstanding Young
Persons of Sri Lanka Award 2008 (TOYP)", which will reward talented
young individuals for their exemplary achievements in many field.
The TOYP programme recognises future leaders of the country, which
will highlight these achievements and contributions to serve as an
example to the youth of the country, Chief Executive Officer Nick A.
Nicolaou said at a media conference to announce the event. The event is
scheduled to be on 12 September.
He said "integrating ourselves with the communities in which we
operate is of paramount importance of HSBC. It gives an opportunity to
understand, contribute and create opportunities for growth.
Further, HSBC's partnership with TOYP award is a particularly
exciting proposition as it identifies and recognises the lifeblood of a
nation's future as young people who have soared high above their peers
and made their mark in a variety of important fields. Therefore, the
Bank is looking forward to support this prestigious event for the fourth
consecutive year", he said.
Winners who receive a TOYP award will be recognized internationally
through the Junior Chamber's global network and presence in 115
countries, Nicolaou said.
National President - JCI Sri Lanka Niroshan Silva said that HSBC
partnership with the TOYP award is a particularly exciting proposition
as it identifies and recognises the lifeblood of a nation's future and
candidates who wish to apply for nomination forms could do so by
obtaining an entry coupon published in daily and weekend newspapers from
mid June in all three languages.
He said that TOYP nominations will be scrutinised by a panel of high
profile judges like Dr Uditha Liyanage for the purpose selecting winners
of ten categories.
