President urges public to reduce petroleum consumption:

President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday appealed to the public to be frugal in consuming petroleum to the greatest possible extent to face the current global oil crisis.

The Government will not stop the drive against terrorism under any circumstances, President Mahinda Rajapaksa declared yesterday. "There will be no room for terrorism. We will not stop the campaign against terror," he told senior media personnel at Temple Trees yesterday.

Call for action to curtail fake mobiles

Local mobile phone importers call for strong law enforcement to combat illegal mobile phone imports to Sri Lanka. Some illegal importers bring mobile phones in their baggage to the country. Recently Sri Lanka Customs announced that all the goods for commercial purposes/ commercial quantities have to be imported in accordance with the provision of the Import Control Act and regulations framed thereunder.
