Tiger cadre surrenders
A 20-year old youngster, forcibly conscripted to LTTE after abduction
from his sister's home in Kilinochchi some eight months back, gave
himself up and recently sought protection from the ICRC officials at
Omanthai "No Fire Zone".
The twenty-year old LTTE surrendee, from Pinnaveli, Jaffna area was
in his sister's home in Kilinochchi when terrorists unexpectedly stormed
the house and took him away by force on 30th August 2007, despite
repeated objections of his sister and relatives.
Tiger leaders later on took him to Iranamadu area where he was
trained for LTTE warfare along with some others whom he did not know.
The youngster in the company of a few others under LTTE training, has
abortively tried to flee to India but they were caught by Tiger leaders
and later kept imprisoned in a torture chamber in Puliyankulam area
without giving food or proper requirements.
He was however determined to run away from the LTTE grip when the
chance dawned. On 16th May he managed to flee and reached ICRC officials
at Omanthai. The surrendered youngster has been delivered for
rehabilitation. SL Army
