Raninde Sooriyakumara most outstanding player
The captain of Wesley College Raninde Sooriyakumara was named as the
most outstanding player in the inter-school under 15 division one
cricket tournament concluded recently.
He scored 680 runs including a career best 204 not out from 192
deliveries with 23 boundaries and seven sixes against Lumbini MV. He
also compiled two centuries and two half centuries.
This was in fact the first double century in junior cricket by a
Wesleyite and also the first score of over 200 runs by a Wesley
cricketer after Farveez Maharoof's 243 against Richmond in 2002.
Sooriyakumara also captured 21 wickets in this tournament with his
off spinners. Earlier he became the under 14 best batsman at the Nelson
Mendis Trophy cricket tournament held in 2006. |
