Explosives laden Tiger boat explodes
Tanks deployed in and around Ariyalai point in Jaffna after observing
the presence of about seven Tiger terrorist boats directed 100 mm fire
rounds, causing one of the boats to explode on Wednesday between
10.20-10.30 a.m.
It is believed those terrorist boats were on a reconnaissance
mission, apparently with loaded explosives as the explosion of the LTTE
boat confirmed when attacked by the troops, the Army said.
Less than an hour later troops detecting one more LTTE boat in the
Jaffna lagoon area at about 11.20 a.m. used heavy fire on it. However,
troops restrained from further firing since the LTTE boat managed to
creep into fishing boats in the seas.
Meanwhile, fishermen in the lagoon has come across a floating dead
body of a man in the seas off the lagoon after some time. In the
meantime, troops in Muhamalai, Kilaly, Ponnar areas destroyed several
Tiger bunkers during day time clashes on Wednesday (09). At least two
terrorists died during these attacks and one soldier received injuries.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Air Force fighter jets raided a Sea Tiger base
of LTTE terrorists located in Mullaitivu coast around 2.30 p.m. on
Wednesday. |
