Will the axe come on Colts?
Colts Cricket Club are in danger of facing a possible ban of five to
ten matches following their controversial SLC Premier League inter club
Tier 'A' tournament match against Moors Sports Club worked off at
Braybrooke Place last week.
The match was marked with high drama as the Colts CC players decided
to return to the pavilion due to bad light with Moors SC were just two
runs short of obtaining an outright victory.
The game was however awarded to Moors SC by match referee Graham
Labrooy who has provided a full report of the incident to the SLC
Tournament Committee.
The report will be studied by the SLC Tournament Committee and the
members of the Interim Committee before a final decision is made by the
Disciplinary Committee in consultation with the Chairman of SLC.
Meanwhile a Tournament Committee spokesman revealed that Colts CC
have committed a Level One offense which requires the maximum punishment
of a ban of five to ten matches conducted by the SLC.
Unlike any other offense, no appeal could be made if Colts CC are
found guilty of having committed a Level One offense.
This means that Colts CC will probably miss the entire 2008/09 inter
club Premier League season as the final set of matches of the current
tournament is scheduled to start from Thursday.
Colts CC who are currently placed seventh in the points table will
take on Baduraliya SC on their home grounds while Moors SC will be up
against Tamil Union at the P. Saravanamuttu Stadium. CD |
