India will never allow a separate independent state for Tamils to be carved out from Sri Lanka, Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayaka said here yesterday.

UNP, SLMC to contest EP poll

The United National Party has decided to contest the Eastern Provincial elections, UNP Secretary General Tissa Attanayake said. The decision has been taken at the Working Committee Meeting held at Opposition Leader's office last morning, Lankapuvath said. UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe will discuss the elections process with other parties.
