Navy foils LTTE boat movement

A cluster of LTTE boats launched form Nayaru area in Trincomalee proceeding towards Pulmudai was intercepted and attacked by Naval craft early yesterday morning, the Navy said.

The movement of the cluster of the LTTE boats was detected by the naval craft on patrol. The sailors engaged the LTTE boats forcing them to give up the attempt. The LTTE boats thereafter retreated under heavy gunfire towards Nayaru.

The intercepted communications among senior LTTE cadres revealed that one boat was heavily damaged and was towed to the Nayaru lagoon, the place from where they were launched.
