PC Partner (Pvt) Ltd., a SBU of PCH Holdings (Pvt) Ltd., has launched a Notebook repair and service centre with the objective of providing total notebook solutions to the rapidly expanding notebook market in Sri Lanka.

The first notebook repair and service centre was opened at Second Floor, Unity Plaza, Colombo 4 and plans are in progress to extend similar service centres in their branches located throughout the metropolitan area within the next few months.

PC Partner (Pvt) Limited's latest addition to its service element, "The Notebook Repair Centre" is a service booth located under the Note Book Arcade where laptop/notebook users have the opportunity to get their exclusive products serviced or repaired by highly trained technicians.

Consumers who step into the Note Book Arcade will enjoy a variety of services including purchasing of exclusive notebooks, consultation from skilled personnel on notebook repairs, maintenance, hardware upgrading, installing software and configuration.

These services make The Notebook Repair Centre at PC Partner a valuable partner to all kinds of laptop users, be it a novice or a seasoned professional.

The year 2007 was a cross-over point for the computer category, where more laptops were sold than "desktops" as reported in Omah World Herald/LA Times under the story "The mighty little laptop overtakes desktops".

Buyers choose laptops as an alternative to desktops in order to reduce all forms of resource consumption across the board. According to IT experts, the business world is deploying more laptops by a good margin that continues to get wider.

Hence the expertise in providing a service in repairing, upgrading and maintaining is an essential developing solution in the market.

"Comparing with the desktop there has been a 50 per cent-60 per cent rapid increase in laptop users in Sri Lanka last year," stated Chief Operating Officer, PC Partner Ltd MMM Thufail. "Laptops are a good fit for road warriors or people who need a mobile solution.

Laptops continue to come down in price and those are now about the same price as a similarly configured desktop.

Laptop use is being driven by the changes in habits as much as by advances in technology. Work approaches are changing because wireless technology is breaking the link between location and connectivity.

Increasingly users prefer to carry laptops, use at home and into meetings, using wireless connection to facilitate collaboration as well to keep up with email. We have identified these changes and have understood the importance of a fully fledged repairing centre when the requirement arises for any notebook user", he further said. PC Partner (Pvt) Ltd., operates as a service provider in the Sri Lankan market for brands such as HP, Panora, Samsung, Lenovo, Acer, Toshiba and IBM.

The Notebook Repair Centre is not limited for PC Partner clients but for all those who have the need to improve and refurbish their laptops.
