Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, now 169
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC) celebrates 169 years of
exemplary service to the business community this year. Established on
March 25, 1839, CCC is amongst the few legendary institutions in the
Asia Pacific region to hold such an unbroken record.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce was recognised recently with the
prestigious Business Superbrand status by the Superbrands Organization
due to its untiring and committed efforts in many fields.
Chief among them are projects that have gained recognition such as
the Ten Best Corporate Citizen Awards, the Sri Lanka Economic Summit,
GTZ supported SAARC and Trade promotion projects, Promotion of
Eco-Efficient Productivity project, Rain Forest Ecolodge, Career
Guidance project, the Sri Lanka Norway matchmaking project, IMEXPRO and
the SME unit.
Having commenced operations with coffee, followed by tea, rubber and
coconut sectors, CCC has now evolved to cover all sectors of the economy
and identifies itself as a Confederation of Regional and Sectoral
Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
CCC claims this status having formed alliances with 14 Regional and
other Chambers of Commerce, 40 Trade, Product and Service Associations
and 19 Bilateral Business Councils.
The CCC is the only Chamber in South Asia with BSENISO 9001:2000
Quality Management System certification and works towards its vision of
being the Benchmark Chamber of Commerce in the Asia Pacific Region. |
