National Colours Awards on April 4
The Ministry of Sports and Public Recreation has made arrangements to
hold a National Colours Award Ceremony on April 4 at the Bandaranaike
Memorial International Conference Hall.
This was stated by the Minister Gamini Lokuge at a media conference.
Sports governing bodies will nominate sportsmen and women and youth
sportsmen and women for whom cash awards will be presented.
The total sum to be distributed among them is Rupees 8 million. In
addition there will also be a competition to select most popular men and
women sports stars in the senior and junior categories. The winner in
the group is to receive an expensive motor car.
The colours awards is scheduled to be held once in four years
according to Minister. There will be 100 sportsmen who are eligible to
receive awards for their past performances in addition to the stars of
year 2007.

Sportsman/Woman and Youth Sportsman/Woman on coupons appearing in the

Readers too will receive cash prizes worth Rs. 50,000, 30,000 and
20,000 and ten cash prizes of 2,000.
