Market positive
With activity levels being propped up by heavy trading on plantation
and few other low valued counters, the market closed on a positive note
yesterday.
The ASPI gained 10.19 points or 0.41% to end the day at 2520.98 and
the MPI edged up 5.47 points or 0.17% to close the day at 3169.22.
The turnover for the day registered at Rs.362.95 Millon. Low valued
counters were in demand yesterday and (Tess Agro) TESS topped the list
volume wise after 3.56 Million shares changed hands.
Other notable trades include (Nawaloka Hospitals Ltd (NHL) with 1.51
Million shares, Ceylon Glass (GLAS) with 1.11Milion shares and LCEM with
0.83 Million shares been traded in counters.
Kegalle Plantations (KGAL) was the top contributor turnover wise with
Rs.33.23 Million. The counter traded within a price range of Rs.57.00
and Rs.63.00. Balangoda Plantations (BALA), Kelanivalley Plantations (KVAL)
Bogawanthalawa Plantations and (BOPL) followed turnover wise with
Rs.26.5 Million, Rs.18.4 Million and Rs.15.5Million respectively.
Price gainers outnumbered price losers numbering 79 to 61. Foreigners
were more prominent on purchasing side bringing a net inflow of Rs.43.4
Million.
