Market dips

The market suffered a setback with the news of the two explosions in Moneragala yesterday.

The indices ended up in the red, with the ASPI tumbling 50.55 points or 2.08 per cent to close the day at 2382.16 while the MPI slipping 47.43 points or 1.53 per cent to finish at 3055.86.

Turnover for the day stood at a low, Rs. 180.4mn. DIST saw a crossing with 0.54mn shares changing hands at a flat price of Rs. 95.00.

The counter contributed the most to the day’s turnover with Rs. 51.6mn.

TFC saw a crossing on the counter of 0.2mn shares at a price of Rs. 65.00 which led the counter to become the second highest contributor to the day’s turnover.

TKYO(X) also saw a block of 0.77mn shares changing hands at a price of Rs. 17.50. The counter was the top trade volume wise after a total of 0.80mn shares changed hands during the day, contributing Rs. 14.1mn to turnover.
