Three soldiers injured in second explosion targeting Army vehicle :

Twenty six civilians were killed in a claymore blast in Okkampitiya yesterday morning. Another 63 persons including 10 children were injured as the CTB bus they were travelling in was caught by the LTTE claymore explosion.

Be resolute and calm in face of provocation - President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who has unequivocally condemned the LTTE’s savage attacks on a civilian bus at Buttala and a village in Okkampitiya, has called on Sri Lankans to be vigilant in the face of provocation by terrorists, remain calm, and assist the Security Forces in their efforts to eliminate terrorism from Sri Lanka.

LTTE has continuously and grievously violated CFA - Govt tells UN HR Chief

The Government yesterday informed the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, that the decision to end the Ceasefire Agreement (CFA) with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) was taken after careful and serious consideration, the Disaster Management and Human Rights Ministry said.

Alba gets nod for car, truck assembling

Alba Group of Companies, Sri Lanka’s only three wheeler manufacturer, plans to assemble cars and trucks in Sri Lanka. The company will manufacture chassis and vehicle bodies in Sri Lanka. However, this project will take two to three years to become fully operational.
